Deltona Community Gardens
Our flagship program started in 2018, when Jim and Paula Pescha turned a patch of city land at Vann Park into a place where neighbors could grow something together. Gardeners rent a raised bed and grow whatever they like. We provide the tools, the mulch, the water, and the hoses. Extra produce goes into the on-site blessing box, where any family in the neighborhood can take what they need.
Meetings are open to the whole community (not just garden members) to swap tips and tricks for your own home garden. All of our gardeners are happy to help each other; we share the work as much as the harvest.

Something for everyone
Not looking to keep your own bed? Come enjoy the Jim and Paula Pescha Butterfly Gardens, the fruit grove, our mural and butterfly sculpture from local artists, or just the peace and quiet of a garden in the middle of the city. There's a little free library on site too. Keep an eye on our calendar for family events like our yearly Harvest Festival.
Be the Change Deltona
Civic engagement means working to make a real difference in the life of your community: developing the knowledge, skills, and motivation to bring about change. Be the Change Deltona exists to increase civic engagement and drive citizen-led projects that improve the livability of our city.

Deltona's status as a bedroom community has, for years, left government as the default driver of decisions here. As the largest city in Volusia County, we've grown into a full commuter city, and our elected officials work for us. Getting engaged, showing up, and speaking out is how we hold up our end of that civic contract.
What we need from you:
- Participation: regularly scheduled meetings to discuss changes, problems, and observations.
- Input: your suggestions, data, examples, and experience.
- Volunteers: to spread the word, talk to neighbors, and advocate for change.
Community Collaboration
From time to time, Deltona Strong gathers public input from the community on issues that matter: city decisions, local proposals, or questions our neighbors are asking. This page-in-progress is the landing spot for whatever we're gathering input on right now.
